Well, now that I’ve recovered with an accidental 4 hour nap….
Today was a wonderful day!
I woke up early and went down to the poli deportivo (sports complex) in La Palma to attend the inauguration of our soccer and softball teams.
Our boys’ soccer team.
Our unofficial girls’ softball team. This is a project we’re hoping to start (getting uniforms, setting up some sort of game schedule, etc.). Most of the girls on these teams don’t have cleats, gloves, pads (catcher) or anything. We are looking into to applying for a grant to help equip them! I’ll be learning more about grants and such during PST 2. Hopefully we can get these girls geared up and out on the field!
After the inauguration, I headed up to the center of La Palma to meet up with my PCV friends for Cesar’s birthday. I missed them so much! I was on an extreme caffeine rush, so I think I appeared even more excited than I was (which meant that I just seemed crazy). Oh well! I think they still love me.
All but two of us were able to come out to celebrate Cesar’s birthday. We went to the coffee shop, perused the artisan market, then ate lunch and had cake at La Teja. Afterwards, I was able to show them where my site is and they all got to meet Luna!
I was exhausted when I got home! I was so happy to see (almost) everyone! So thankful that we’ll all be together again in just a little over a week for PST 2!
Tomorrow I’ll be up, bright and early, to go exploring in Meghan’s site. I’m making the journey on my own, so I’m a little nervous. Hopefully all goes well! I can’t wait to see her beautiful site up in the mountains!
